Bearpaw Winter Camping Experience

Bearpaw is our Council's winter-weather program designed to have Scouts participate in snow camping, sleeping in a warm snow shelter, cooking great meals, participating in organized games, along with general fun.

There are two parts to BearPaw, An indoor training session on 13 November 2010 that focuses on dressing properly (or keeping dry), building shelters, traveling on snow, menus and cooking, winter first aid, Leave No Trace, driving in winter conditions, and many more topics. It is mandatory that a minimum of one adult leader and youth be trained and in turn, they will train their unit. Also, other interested Senior Scouts and Venturers are encouraged to attend. This adventure is also for Webelos-II bridging into a Troop.

The outdoor session is 18-20 February 2011 at Cisco Grove Campground on I-85 near Boreal Ridge, past Yuba Gap. Last year we had four feet of fresh power with beautiful, warm weather and 400 attendees.

Click on the links to the right for detailed information. The training manual, provided on a CD during indoor the training session, can be downloaded if unable to attend.
