James E. West Fellowship Award
The James E. West Fellowship Award is a national recognition for individuals who contribute $1,000 or more gift to the Santa Clara County Council Endowment Fund. This contribution is in addition to, and does not diminish or replace, the donor's annual gift to our council's Friends of Scouting campaign. Organizations or individuals may contribute an award.
The award is named after the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America who exemplified Ralph Waldo Emerson's observation that "an institution is the lengthened shadow of one man." Scouting today is the "lengthened shadow" of more than three decades of the farseeing and dedicated leadership of Dr. James E. West.
As a part of Miwok Lodge's many contributions to the council, it was decided that the Lodge would collect donations totaling $1,000 from our members and present them to the endowment fund for a James E. West Fellowship Award. The award would then be presented to a member of the Lodge as selected by the Lodge Executive Committee. It is the goal of the Lodge to make an annual donation to the endowment fund. If you'd like to make a donation for our James E. West Fellowship Award, contact us at miwok@sccc-scouting.org. Below are the Arrowmen honored by the Lodge.
